I suppose because some people would say that women are very good at playing football and that it is a game for men.
I would disagree and I hope a UK terrestrial television channel will broadcast live coverage of the 2007 Women's World Cup in China. The BBC does broadcast Women's football often on BBC3 and they do show the Women's FA Cup Final each year on BBC1.
As it is the first time since 1995 , that England's women's football team have qualified for a World Cup tournament I hope there will be coverage. The BBC did show live games from the 2005 Women's European Championships because England was the host country and the final was shown live which Germany won by beating Norway 3-1.
The next Women's European Championship is held in Finland in 2009 and I hope England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales and the Republic of Ireland all qualify.
In a British newspaper called "The Guardian" there is a coverage of women's football.
There was an article in The Guardian dated 25 July 2006 about girls being allowed to play football with boys and so there should.
Let's hope in the near future there will be more coverage of Women's football in the media and more live games on the television and radio and not just satellite and digital!!!

The WUSA overspent their 5 year budget in 3 years and couldn't generate the loyalty and fan support they needed. The USL W-League has been able to continue expansion and puts a quality product out there, above college level, not quite to the international level.
Remember the statement made by Dean Smith of UNC basketball fame, when asked how he felt about UNC being a basketball school after winning an National Championship. He stated that if that were the case, then it should be a women's soccer school because they had won 10 National Championships.

I really dont know why womens football is not placed up there along with the men.
Luckily here in the UK more and more local teams are now appearing with many playing in major tornaments.
Ive seen some of these girls play and they would really give some of the men a run for their money.
Im a big Liverpool FC fan and Liverpool has a female team aswell.
Many of the big UK clubs have their female teams aswell and some the female teams are doing better then their male counterparts.

Because we live in a sexist society that is male dominant and will probably always be. Men's sport will always be reported on more and I object to this a great deal, but unless many more girls around the world start participating in football it will not get any more coverage!

because a lot of football crazy men are sexist and don't want to believe women should be playing football, considering it a male sport, whereas in fact women can and do play football as good
as men.

The USA had a league called WUSA. To my knowledge, the league did not get enough funding to keep the league open.
