that is terrible you can easily break bones in a cat that way they are only 10 or so pounds and the amount of pressure from a full sized human can actually kill it...please dont do that or give it away to someone who will properly care for the poor cat

Are you keeping his Litter box clean? Some Cats have to have an ultra clean place to poop. And the living room floor is probably pretty clean so he will keep going there. As far as you kicking him, hitting with the slipper etc....he probably doesn't know why you are doing it. Every time he poops on the floor...take the poop to the litter box and take the cat there too. So he will make the association between the two. Make sure his litter box is in a place that's easy to get to also. Cats can be very weird about where they go.

yes it is very wrong you could cripple it you need to get a cat litter tray and put the litter tray on a spreed out newspaper so if it does have an accident it,s not on the floor and also you need to scrub the area,s where it has been doing it,s poop so there is no trace of smell you will find it will more often than not do its poops in the same places because this is the places that are marked out as it,s territory and it feels its ok to do it there this is a thing they do in the wild you need to get rid of all odours of it,s poop otherwise it will be hard to stop it when you get it a litter tray you must keep putting the cat in it so it knows where to go you must do this until it relises that it is the place to do it you won,t solve anything by hitting it you will only drive it away from home and it will find someone else who is less cruel to it good luck p.s for a week or two put down either orange or lemon peel by the area,s it has pooped as cats do like citrus smells make sure you keep the smell of the citrus strong it works better

I think your cat will learn faster from your anger than any type of violence. If you show it that you are disappointed, with the tone of your voice and the like, that should have more of an effect than spanking or kicking it, which could be interpreted as anything.
Lots of times there are underlying emotional problems when cats take to going to the bathroom outside of the litter box. There can be medical concerns too. We took our ten-year old tabby to the vet after a spate of pooping and peeing all over the place and found out he was diabetic and athsmatic. I would recommend going to the vet when you can (look up carecredit for info on financial help - we could not have afforded our cat's treatment without it.) Good luck.

Yes, it's very inhumane to be doing that. Kicking your cat in the a s s isn't going to help it with the pooping problem, and punching it in the back, or hitting him with a slipper isn't going to help it either.
Also, by having a cat that has defecating problems, you should've brought it to the vet to get it checked out.
I personally feel that you should get checked out and have someone else take care of your cat. But that's just mean.
Oh, and by the way, I have a cat myself, and it did simliar stuff. I later found out that it had an UTI (Urinary Tract Infection) that spread into its kidneys. So, I'm suggesting you get it checked out.

Well, it's inhumane to beat a cat, but not to spank- the way you describe how you punish the cat makes it seem like you're beating your cat. That's probably why many of your answers are pretty nasty. It's one thing to spank a cat, but another to kick it or punch it, and that's a big difference. Who knows- maybe your cat has a stomach problem or it's not house trained. Get onto it once, but in a kind, humane manner.

Of course it Isn't OK. Maybe it didn't have the right training as a kitten. Keep it in a smaller room with the cat box for at least a week...........letting it out to be petted and socialize.
Ask a vet for advice but Please don't be cruel. I know it's very frustrating when they do that and every cat doesn't do that........but some do. Keep the litterbox clean, try different litter, and again check with several vets if necessary.

You are not teaching your cat anything by hitting it and throwing things at it. I have owned cats many years. I have never had a problem teaching my cat anything. I tell them no in a stern voice or gently thump them on the nose. Do you have a clean litter box available for your cat to use? It is very important for the litter box to be clean and in a place that gives the cat privacy.

Yes it is inhumane. Your cat only knows that you are beating it - it doesn't know what for. Reward him for being good instead of punishing him for being bad. Cats are generally very good about their litter box, so make sure it is easy for him to get to. Put it in an accessible but out of the way place in the house, clean it when it is dirty, and make sure to follow the rule of 1 litter box per cat in your household, plus 1.
If the problem persists, you may want to consider taking him to the vet. Abnormal urination and defecation by cats in NOT normal.

Sounds like you're doing it more to vent your own frustration than to correct the cat. I recommend beathing the **** out of your pillow/bed.
As for the cat, make sure its litter is clean. Show it the kitty litter box and give it a stern scolding when you find the surprise it left you in the living room. Hitting it doesn't help (only helps you...which again, go hit your bed).

its NEVER a good idea to hit a cat with anything no matter how mad you are at them! it makes them not like you and want to do more things to make you mad. all you need to do it give the cat a soft but firm hit on the nose to tell them what they did was bad. after a while they should get the hint.
