it is best to buy an in expensive wine red or white...i try and find sales and purchase wines for cooking now i am not saying to go buy rot gut the wine would be alright to drink but as you are only cooking with it. there are a lot of inexpensive wines and you can save what you dont use by recorking it and store under refridgation.....i always say if you wouldnt drink it why cook with it.....its the flavor your looking for.....

are you cooking the meat IN the wine, or are you drinking the wine as you cook the meat?

I like a nice pinot noir, no matter if I'm cooking and drinking or drinking and cooking.

i only use the cooking wine from the store,but alot of people use red wine.
