Look in the Yellow Pages and find a hypnotherapist to work with you on this. It sounds as though you need to be able to express the memories, feelings and emotions that went along with whatever caused this problem (it's not necessarily anything to do with bridges). A well-qualified hypnotherapist will be help you to deal with this.
The fact that you have asked the question on this forum indicates that YOU really want to do something about the problem - this is the first step - good for you. Good luck. RJS

do not look left, do not look precise, do not look down, do not seek for; in basic terms concentration thoroughly on the way forward and any means stumbling blocks that could require negotiating. initiate now with some thing interior sight and straightforward, then paintings your way up in ranges over here few days. focus a number of your awareness on respiratory in many cases in basic terms before you return to a bridge, yet practically all something could desire to be on driving and the line forward. Ask for quiet from others (each time!), in basic terms on an identical time as crossing bridges, so which you isn't distracted.

You are suffering from a phobia, which is a strong, persistent fear of situations, objects, activities, or persons. The main symptom of this disorder is the excessive, unreasonable desire to avoid the feared subject.
A study by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) found that between 8.7% and 18.1% of Americans suffer from phobias so you are not alone.
Agoraphobia is the anxiety about being in places or situations from which escape might be difficult (or embarrassing) or in which help may not be available in the event of having an unexpected or situationally predisposed Panic Attack or panic-like symptoms. Agoraphobic fears typically involve characteristic clusters of situations that include being on a bridge and a lot of others.
Phobia can be treated by experienced therapists but it is not easy to get better.

You should try walking across the bridges with a person you love. Having someone you care for nearby will help rid of some of the fear. When you feel you are ready, try travelling on more grand bridges and walk on them. Than travel by car. You should feel a but easier after this practice.

Are you a vampire? - I seem to remember they can't cross running water. If not, in fact undead then you've "simply" phobic, and I'm sure you will find a solution. Seems to me like you are already halfway there. You recognise your fear, appreciate it is not entirely rational and have developed a coping mechanism - ie your fiance. Confront the fear, and boost your confidence until can manage alone.
If actually undead then I believe a steak through heart or holy water may be of some assistance.

Sounds like it's really bugging you. you should try counselling or some kind of therapy. when you do have to cross a bridge, tell yourself that anything that could happen is not as bad as living with the phobia. By the way that's really sweet about your fiance.

Aww why don't you go get hypnotized or see a therapist? I have a fear of it because I keep thinking of the bridge collapsing and i can't swim. I mean the thought of tons of cars flying in the water with cement rock and everything. You will conquer this fear don't worry.

MARK, YOU HAVE TO FACE YOUR FEAR TO OVERCOME IT, I USED TO BE AFRAID TO CROSS BRIDGES ALSO, BUT I LIVED IN FLORIDA MANY YEARS AGO, AND I HAD TO CROSS THE SEVEN MILE BRIDGE THAT GOES TO KEY WEST, MANY OF TIMES. THE MORE YOU CROSS THEM , THEN THE MORE YOU WILL FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE. ASK YOUR FIANCE TO DRIVE ACROSS SOME BRIDGES, IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU HAVE TO HOLD HER HAND AND SHUT YOUR EYES, PRETTY SOON YOU CAN LET GO OF HER HAND AND OPEN YOUR EYES. THEN MAYBE YOU COULD DRIVE ACROSS A BRIDGE SOON. GOOD LUCK MARK.

NLP may help. This is a specific branch of Hypnosis.
Have a look at:
http://www.pe2000.com/pho-bridges.htm
for more info. Maybe look into Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.
Whatever you decide find a practitioner who specialises in their field and can provide evidence of previous success. Good Luck!
