I'm not crazy about the idea of her coloring her hair at all, but she's really wanting to have sapphire blue hair. Her natural color is medium brown and I wonder if there's a product that's not permanent that will actually change the color of her hair without damaging it.

Genuine help is appreciated!

Underground Colour is the all around best. It comes out in about 40 washes. But it is hard to find, so you can also try Manic Panic-it works quite nicely too and also comes out in about 40 washes. Neither will damage her hair.

I have medium brown hair and, when I was in high shcool, died it all the colors of the rainbow. With my hair color none of the colored die held longer than a wash, sometimes two, unless I bleached my hair first.
Hope this is of some help to you.
By the way I turned out just fine, I almost have my masters in science and have a very successful carrier, so don't think that this is going to make her a nonproductive member of society.
: )

if she really wants to-and youre ok with that-then let her use the non permanent stuff. i would never color my hair (especially blue!) because it has been linked to cancer , it looks terrible when it fades, and you'll never have shiny, healthy hair again! but dont tell her all of that because she'll just say she doesnt care and a whole bunch of other crap. but like i said-if youre cool with it then fine buy her some stuff that rinses out after a month or so. hope i helped!

if she wants a true sapphire blue, the salon will bleach her hair, then dye it the blue.

don't let her ruin her hair because of a silly fad.

they do make wash out dyes, but it wont be really blue because her hair is a darker color

Well, there is blue hair dye that isn't permanent. It comes out right when you take a shower. You can get it at any store like kmart, CVS, walmart, etc..

Even if she gets it permanately dyed it'll still grow out. I suggest getting the washout first to seeif she likes it.

You only live once, and well, she's a typical teenager. :)

Show her pictures of what the color will look like once it's faded. It looks pretty horrible after awhile... just old and damaged and faded.

There are non-permanent color combs that you can brush through your hair to give it streaks of color--- they wash out afterwards. I remember seeing them at Wal-Mart, although it's been quite awhile.

finding on how porous your hair is, the KoolAid might desire to artwork as an eternal dye, lol. one in all my bffs from college tried it (she became fairly blonde besides) with the eco-friendly KoolAid and ended up having to enhance it out. regarded super even with the incontrovertible fact that. you are able to desire to objective an consumer-friendly short-term dye or a rinse. Or in case you prefer purely a diffused bluish tint (think of Smurf), purely p.c.. up shampoo meant for those with white or gray hair. they have a tendency to have blue or pink tints (that's why you spot some blue-haired previous women walking around, lol). they're meant for use no longer often to sidestep the blue head, yet whilst that's the look you're going for, use it like your ordinary shampoo. once you do no longer prefer the blue anymore, purely initiate utilising your previous shampoo back.

The colour shes picked will cause damage to her hair. Even if there a natural blue colour, she will have to bleach hers first in order for the colour to turn out. Explain to her that if she wants to get the correct colour, she will first have to bleach it, and it will cause extensive dammage. I say if she still wants to after that, let her, she'll either love it, or learn the hard way that its not worth it....

i d say the hairdresser's dye will actually do much more harm than all the dye you can buy in the super market--it is a lot more agressive + will prob. be permanent. stores like hottopic have good, well covering stuff, and it goes back out pretty easily!!
i d let her go for it, as long as it isnt permanent...!!
