I bet she would have fun now. You would have to be there so she don't put the sand in her eyes or ears or do other things that will hurt her. Have a lid for the sand box so the cats that live around you don't use it as their own box.

13 months is a safe age for a sandbox as long as you keep a good eye on your child while he/she is playing in it and doesnt ingest too much of it. Also make sure you have it covered well when not in use because stray cats LOVE a sand box and you dont want that in your playground sand. I do know there are several stores that carry colored playground sand, or just regular cleaned playground sand.

As long as its clean sand it is fun to play with. Make sure you supervise though - for if she rubs her eyes the fun of a sandbox is ruined for a while -- and if she likes to put it in her mouth - crunch crunch - icky. Have fun building and dumping together!!

Any time. Even if she eats it, it's not going to hurt her. There's actually been some research that shows children who are allowed to play in the dirt and sand get sick less often.

Why wouldn't she be able too? It's perfectly fine as long as she's supervised :-)
