What does it mean to worship?
Is there a right way to worship?
Is there a place that you must go to to worship?
Athiests - I would be interested in your answers to this from your point of view also.

Pourin - What about what Jesus told the Samaritan woman in John 4, when she asked about who was right about where to worship?
*Jesus declared, "Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth." *
Does that not say as long as you worship in spirit, the physcal surrounding don't matter?

The best place to worship is in your heart. I guess worship in my opinion is knowing you are a child of God. You life is His and be thankful for it. Trust in Him to help you when you need it or comfort you when you need it.If you stop on a beautiful day when it is perfect temp and the sun is shining and there is a gentle breeze, smile and know He did all that. To me that is worship. God Bless PS sorry if it sounded like I was painting a scene from Little House on the Prarie but that is how I feel. Happy Halloween

The word worship comes from the Old English weorth, which means "worth." The basic principle of worship involves paying great homage and respect to some being or object which is held to be of the highest possible worth. Usually the object of worship is a god and, for many people, offering worship to anything less than a god either indicates that the object "really is" a god or is simply idolatry. Worship can take many different forms, including rituals, prayers, singing, dancing, fasting, etc.

I am going to presume that you are talking about how to worship God. Look at the Old Testament of the Bible, then consider that Jesus respected that form of worship because this is what the Father wanted. Then consider what else Jesus said to do with paying extra attention to the Last Supper where he took bread, and said "Take and eat of this This is my Body, which will be given up for you", then he took the wine "Take and drink of this, This is my Blood, the Blood of the new and eternal covenant that will be shed for you so that sins may be forgiven" "DO THIS IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME". This should be done in a Church because even Jesus sent the Apostles to an upper room to prepare for this. It was not at any ones house it was at a separate place.

Worship is adoration of God. There is no set way to worship, but there are some general guidelines. Worship with your mouth, meaning speak to God. Worship with your body, meaning move around, raise your hands, raise your head. Worship with your heart, meaning tell God what is in your heart. Empty yourself of all the garbage in your life and let God deal with it. Sing to God. Read God's word to him. Give God your hope and prayers and your troubles. You can worship God any time and anywhere. There is no specified place that he must be worshiped. God will see and hear you wherever you are. When you are at your lowest is usually the best time to worship him. Praise and worship will allow you to overcome the difficulties in life. Get in the habit of saying: "P:raise the Lord!" no matter what the circumstances are and worshiping God will become a joyful habit.

When I think of worship of course the first thing I think of is God. I don't think there is a right or wrong way to worship Him. My fav way is to sing worship songs. U can go to church to do this or do it right in ur own living room or kitchen or anywhere. I worship God while in my car driving to work or to town while listening to gospel music on my radio. Good luck to you and have a great day:)

To me, worship is giving praise and thanks to whatever it is that you consider the source of all. There is no "right way" or "necessary place" to worship - the only thing that is needed is that it be authentic. For some people that means singing and dancing and being exuberant; for others, sitting quietly and taking in the sound of the waves crashing on the beach.

Of course, there is a rightful way of worship. It is what Jesus said in the book of John 8:24, "God is a spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth."
What is that spirit and truth wherein we should worship God?
Jesus said in John 6:63, "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: THE WORDS THAT I SPEAK UNTO YOU, THEY ARE SPIRIT, and they are life."
Jesus declared that the true worshippers of God worship in spirit which is His Word or doctrines. Whenever we follow His commandments, laws and doctrines, we are worshipping God already. Paul reiterated this in Romans 12:1, "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, WHICH IS YOUR REASONABLE SERVICE."
Why do we have to present ourselves as living sacrifice? Are there people who live but dead in the sight of God?
1 Timothy 5:6, "But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth."
That, on the other hand, is the unrightful worship--offering of oneself to God while living in carnal pleasures such as vices, envyings, etc.
