Boilies are the most popular bait for Carp but naturals work well too such as lobworms, mussels, cockles and maggots. Sweetcorn produces too, you can get that in a variey of colours and flavours as you can with the boilies, in the summertime you can use dog biscuits ie:- Chum mixer to fish on the surface, theres been some big fish taken on that method ! Get yourself some Carp Fishing mags, there are some good ones on the shelves at newsagent, they will give you a lot of info about bait and lots more besides..Good luck !

Almost 4got one of the ultimate baits...Tiger Nuts, but they have to be prepared properly with boiling and leaving to soak for a few days so they don't cause damage to the fish, these will catch anywhere !

The best bait for all types of carp is dough balls. I make mine with cornmeal, eggs, water, and a little bit of anise flavoring.I just cook it until thick over a medium stove and then let it cool completely.Put about a 3/4" ball on a #2 hook with a 1/2 oz. sinker about 18 " up the line, cast it out and just wait. This appeals to both the domestic carp and grass carp which is a vegetarian species of carp. Good luck and good fishing

I live in holland and I buy very very fine breadcrumbs and put them in a chum bin ie a tiny little metal cage with a 10gram lead weight attached. Oh forgot to say that I mix them with a little water till they bind together. On the hook I use what maybe you call a mealy worm, you know the type found on dead bodies. Small white worms. Sometimes I use 1 and sometimes 2. Everything should be available from your local bait supplier. Good luck

Put several kernels of canned sweet corn on a hook (size #4 or so), works good. You can add some worms (red worm, nightcrawler) also. Use a chum basket to draw the carp to your bait. You can put cooked cornmeal in the basket, or oatmeal with sweet corn kernels mixed in. Carp don't eat fish, because they are not predators. Good luck.

My grandfather used to make a strawberry scented doughball mix that he would boil and then refrigerate overnight. He caught some huge carp. 30+ pounds.
