I certainly don't recall Jack Straw complaining about it before he was asking people - many of them Muslim, presumably, given his constituency - to vote for him in a general election. A bit odd that it's come up now, just as the Labour party is sliding down the opinion polls and they want to court popularity with the right-wing press. If anyone has a problem with women wearing veils, then I think it really is their problem. We have no right to dictate what anyone should or shouldn't wear.

Exactly. What about Christian brides, with those freaky white veils on the day? Anyone wanna tell Bridezilla they ain't suposed to wear veils? What about Welders? Beekeepers? Superheros?
Meanwhile, every bank manager in the world...every politician with their finger on the button...at least 90% of arms dealers...wear business suits. Can we mount a campaign to make them take off their business suits and make them wear big woolly jumpers? Might be harder to sell Kalashnikovs, foreclose on businesses or bankrupt the Third World in a woolly jumper?

This whole thing with the ministers asking Islam women to show their faces is crap. No goverment has the right to dictate how people are to expercise their religeous beliefs.
