Start but rejecting the notion that you have NO imagination. If you can make faces from clouds, begin there. Look around you and note what catches your eye...the color red, a chair, a green lawn, people...whatever...go through magazines and note which images you linger over...go through an old art magzine and clip the reproductions that interest you, paste them in a scrapbook...review them and ask why did these interest me? You will begin to compile explanations that you can reuse with imagination to create your own pictures.

Imagination comes with time as you begin to see like an artist. I suggest you paint what you love. Pick out something you are very familiar with. SEE the basic shapes , squares, lines circles and triangles. use something to measure. so you can get relationships of size together.example would be: the width of the eye is the same width as the space between both eyes. Pick up the brush and just do it. Practice in this case does make perfect.

Just try to make a composition of shapes and colors, see if anything emerges.
Also, try dripping paint in patterns, texture it with crumpled paper, then apply details with a pen.
Things like that.

try paint anything related to your interest. if you got a lot of interest... that's even better. it could be an apple (Fruit) with worm or an apple (Mac) with mouse :) , a wrecked window or beautifully landscape. If you like, you could pick any object in front of you right now.... flying keyboard around a web cam in 3x6 feet purple background maybe??? I see ideas through your Q....
