I'm not sure, because I feel like I've said quite a few things that would get my little butt fried :(
Then again, I'm not COMPLETELY atheist. Agnostictism ftw!
Okay, in all seriousness...I imagine that an answer a Christian might give is that if an atheist just happened to rape and murder innocent people, and we gave them the death penalty, then that is actually the work of God through human hands. At least, that's all I can think of. Doesn't make sense to me though :\
Go stand out in a lightning storm next to metal rod. Maybe God'll find you then :D

God most likely doesn't want to smite you, sweetie. You know, for some strange reason, even though you sometimes seem like you really don't care for Christianity, I'm fond of you. Isn't that weird? I don't even know you. Although, I may be getting you mixed up with a different Jim Darwin (one never knows who is who anymore)! Anyway, I don't think God will smite you. He probably wants to give you more time to come to know Him.
