Was in the Army, and for your questions here are the answers, I was 11m Infantry Ft. Benning Georgia..........after 2 months of BT we got 2 night pass, once and the army decided which hotel you will be staying at with family or friends because there is a distance limit and if you're staying at a friends home who happens to be in the state your doing training at, it has to be clearly by command first. No passes or live during AIT. Hope this information helps you and Good Luck.

this is how it typically works:
The only leave you will get is Christmas or emergency. For the first month at AIT you can't leave post. For the second month (phase 5), you can leave with a day pass or stay off overnight with an overnight pass, but can't estend past 50 miles. After the first two months (phase 5 +) you can come and go pretty much as you please, but they'll phase you down every so often to piss you off. You can put in a pass to extend up to 250 miles during this time.

I was in the Army from 1991-1995. Basic training was 8 weeks, the day of graduation I got to go off post with my parents and stay at a hotel. Then it was back on post. I then attended AIT on Ft. Jackson also, another 8 weeks. During those 8 weeks we could go off post over night on Sat. nights, only with a pass. We were not allowed to leave the Columbia area. We had to be back in the barracks on Sunday by 6 pm.

Unless your in training for Christmas exodus, no, you won't be afforded an opportunity for leave untill you get to your permanent duty station.
Pases for 3 and 4 day weekends
No more than 250 miles from your duty station
can apply for a pass every weekend, now if your first sergeant gives you one if entirely another matter.
