Instead of being punitive, try reform.

Create a new brand of citizenship test for illegals that will screen out the drug dealers and criminals and keep the honest, good people.

An entry exam and tutoring so the illegal can adjust to society for starters. And a quarterly "check up" for the first two years for the person to prove that they are abiding in a decent manner (no crime, please).

You see, if you make them citizens, they have to pay taxes, which is good for the government and also great for the people that it serves.

We need to enforce our borders better. The chance for a terrorist to come through the border illegally is a great threat.
That being said, I think the idea of building a wall between the US and Mexico is ridiculous.
I also think that Guest worker programs need to be adopted to make it easier for Mexicans to cross the border legally, and still be able to work and live here.
I also think that as long as Mexican workers are willing to do jobs for less pay than American workers, then business owners should not have to suffer, as long as the wages are still above the minimum wage.
Since American workers refuse to do these jobs for the cheap pay, then the immigrants should be allowed, and rewarded for doing them.
The immigrant workers should still be required to pay taxes.
The Govt should be assured that we are not letting terrorists just waltz into the country, and in turn, the Guest worker programs need to allow for all the laborers to enter and exit the country as needed.
As for the illegal immigrants already here- Allow them an ample chance to apply for guest worker permission. The Govt must make the permission available for immigrants through businesses needing it.
If the immigrants do not apply within a time frame of about 6 months, deport them.
If the businesses fail to comply, after the same amount of time, they should be fined and their illegal laborers should be deported.

Do whatever we (US Govt.) can to make Mexico's economy grow as fast as possible because the only reason illegal immigrants are coming to the US is because there aren't enough jobs in Mexico and they can't feed their families. Massive loans guarantees from the US to Mexico would help get the Mexican economy moving again and would slow the mass immigration.

But to tell you the truth, I think that all the immigrants that come to the US really help the US economy which then helps ALL Americans. Inexpensive labor keeps the US competitive with powerhouses like India and China who we wouldn't be able to compete with without Latino/Hispanic immigrants.

A border fence is a stupid waste of tax payer money. Fine the crap out of the UN-AMERICANS who hire them. If they can't get a job there will be no reason for them to be here, plain & simple. Wages should be increased to the point where it will draw American citizens to do the job. One job is as important as another, everything has to be done, somebody has to do it. Illegal aliens are holding these wages to a minimum, which has created the poverty working class, along with Republicans' high dollar prices, such as gas, usury law, etc, etc.

Enforcement of current American Immigration laws, Immediate deportation of criminal trespassers, Incarceration of criminal supporters of Illegal immigrants, Initiation of local law enforcement authorities ability to enforce federal immigration laws. Total American border security, not simple lip service & b>s. by our current administration.
If America was not Mexico's poverty relief valve, Mexican nationals would have little choice but to immigrate legally or else force economic and political change in their homelands. This would be to the benefit of both nations.

Rich as the USA is and Christian as its citizens claim to be I think that the 'born in the USA' legal citizens should thank their God for the good luck of an accident of birth landing them in an already wealthy USA without any contribution from them.

And if they are truly Christian, not the rich evangelists or kkk variety of hypocritical Christian, they should share the wealth (which they acquired a right to by good luck alone) with those less fortunate but no less deserving.

Fine employers that hire them, fine the illegals, fine the people that rent to them, fine the banks that give them loans, mandatory back ground checks on parents registering the children in a new school district and/or state, background check on any one applying for government aid for the first time, and vote any one out of office that does not work for what is best for America.

I think it's funny every time someone puts on here about wanting illegal immigrants to come here to give their family a better life. America did not get the way it is overnight.. no one waved a magic wand.. We fought for what we have.. we fought others and we fought ourselves and now people act like we are wrong because we want others to follow our laws... give me a break... if people want better lives they either need to do what they have to legally or they need to fix their own country.... it's their choice.. but I'm tired of people acting like Americans are horrible and haters and everything else just because we want people to follow our laws....
