my daughers boyfriend has cancer and she has gotten lots of information on the internet though webmd.com and also from our family doctor. Everybody is different when it comes to chemo and the way that it affects them. technology and research as gotten so much better over time. He is in his final week of chemo and has hardly lost any hair. they can give booster shots to help provent side effects of chemo. try your family doctor and webmd.com. good luck and god bless

google is your friend!

The answer is based on the following items:

1. What is the nature of the tumor? The term "Cancer" is a catch-all term, and you need to be precise to get a good answer. For instance... if you say, "Breast Cancer", how big was it? Lymph nodes involved? In Situ, or some other form?

2. We need to know what chemicals are involved. Like "Cancer," "chemo" is a catch-all for various witches brews that are used for various lengths of time. We need to know what you're given, how much and how many times.

Your oncologist has such tools, provided by the various drug (chemo) manufacturers. I know, they ARE provided by the drug people.....

Look at it this way...

If you've got a 5% chance of reoccurance withing 5 years w/o chemo, and 4% with chemo... are you willing to risk that last 1% (which is really a 25% greater chance of reoccurance, if you think about it)? If you get it again, will you be able to live with your decision? Are you willing to go thru chemo to get that extra security -- and the very probably side-effects that go with it?

Here's one example of a the kinds of variables I'm talking about (breast cancer in this case):
