I don't think that we could end world hunger by giving more money. In many parts of the world, hunger is a result of corruption. To rid the world of hunger, we must first get rid of corruption.
However, I believe the world would be a lot better off if more people gave to charity. I give to charity on a regular basis. I try to follow what the Bible says, give 10% of all income to charity. I think that answers many questions.
Taxes and charity are not the same.

Many people of varying faiths belive in giving to poor and various charites. Unfotunately some of these organizations need to be held to account as some ivestigations show tha the money doesn't always go where it is sent. Also much of it can be lost through administrative fees. Which can tend to benefit the organization more than the intended recipiant. That being said it's still no excuse not to give. Our government taxes are also supposed to help the poor withinour own communities and to some degree they do, however they can tend to reflect a more judgemental attitude of society towards those without, seeing them all as being lazy drug addicts and alcoholics. Some Chritian churches give 10% to thier church who in turn uses some of that to give to the poor. I believe it i relative and good to give but also prudent to investigat a little. Once I was approached in a mall store by a girl asking for donations to help the starving children. The identifaction card she had was Iskon. Knowing that this was another name for the Hare Krishna group I knew very little of any would be used to help starving children but rather to promote the lifestyle of thier leaders and the promotion of their cult. Knowing that they have used serious brain washing techniques I didn't only not give them money but made the mall security aware of thier presence who escorted them out as they hadn't gotten any permission from the Sears store where they were approaching people. I do believe it's good to be involved with people less fortunate than ourselves.

Yes I give to charity. I give time, money, and prayers. I split my tithes between Church and charities as suggested by the Catholic faith. Ten percent to God in this manner: 5% to my Church, and 5 % to various Charities.
