I believe they are the same person, but in a unique way they are kind of seperate.
The best way it was explained to me was:
A man can be a father, a husband, and a son all at the same time, yet all these aspects of him concern seperate and unique relationships.
I believe what you have asked is a wonderful question but very very difficult to answer. I hope my analogy has helped in some way

Jesus Christ: The Son of God
John 1:1-2; 10:27-30
Have you ever heard someone deny that Jesus claimed to be God? Such a statement simply doesn’t make sense. Repeatedly, Jesus placed Himself on equal footing with the Father and the Holy Spirit (John 10:30; 14:6-14). Scripture gives us a clear picture of His eternal, intimate relationship with the heavenly Father.
Why is it important for us to believe this? Jesus did something that had never been done before: He enabled men and women to see God in a new way. In Colossians 1:15, Paul explains that Jesus is the “image of the invisible God.” No one has ever looked upon the face of the Almighty.
In the Old Testament, some people were confronted with God. But they were never able to look fully upon His glory. For example, even Moses, who is described as God’s friend (Exodus 33:11), could not look directly at God. At best, Moses had the opportunity to look upon “God’s back” as He passed by. But, he never saw His face (Exodus 33:18-23).
Jesus, however, came to bridge the gap between God’s glory and mankind’s sinful nature. In the original Greek text, the word for “image” is directly related to the English word “icon.” Just as an icon on your computer screen directs you to the main program, Jesus directs believers to the fullness of God’s glory.
As the “icon,” Jesus is the exact, flawless replica of God. For that reason, Jesus could say, “He who has seen Me has seen the Father” (John 14:9). What has Jesus taught you about the Father?

As a Catholic, Jesus and God are 2 people but they are ONE GOD! They are part of the Blessed Trinity. Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. We say those words when we cross ourselves before we start our prayers.

God robed Himself in flesh (was born as a baby)
He did not send a son, He became a son Himself.

The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are all one............The Trinity.
First Epistle Of Saint John
Chapter 5
6 This is he that came by water and blood, Jesus Christ: not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit which testifieth, that Christ is the truth. 7 And there are three who give testimony in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost. And these three are one.
Baptism:
Gospel According to Saint John
Chapter 1
33 And I knew him not; but he who sent me to baptize with water, said to me: He upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining upon him, he it is that baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

Jesus was God in the flesh.
Joh 14:9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

Yes, because according to the Gospels in the Holy Bible, Father, Son and the Holy Spirit are the same. But you need to have faith to believe it.

"Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God.He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ,he hath BOTH the Father and the Son." 2 John 1:9.I love it when His word answers these questions so plainly.Yet there are those who still don't understand what "Thou shalt Not" means. Both means Two ,that means God and Jesus are separate. In Spirit they are the same just as those who are married in the lord were two but now they are one in Christ. My wife and I have different duties to for fill,we are two separate people doing one work.
