The former Ulster Defence Regiment (UDR) Battalions are now the Home Service Battalions of the Royal Irish Regiment. The Royal Irish has a Regular Battalion (1st Royal Irish) and 3 Home Service Battalions (2, 3 & 4 Royal Irish). The Home Service Battalions perform the same role formerly carried out by the UDR and are essentially non-deployable outside Northern Ireland.

And I suppose the IRA were all brave freedom fighters? There were rotten apples in both sides my friend.

Yep, the UDR is now the RIR where hopefully they will change role to be more deployable to places where they are now needed more than Northern Ireland.

Yeah! They moved the murderers of the UDR into the RIR to try and hide them. Still just the same old Regiment of Murderers!
