You gotta make sense of the world anyway you can, but if you're trying to convert everyone then you have major insecurities.

"Extremely low self-esteems are compensated for by delusions of grandeur and megalomania, a narcissistic neuroses. With the propensity to act only on behalf of one's self, the unbridled need to feed one's ego, and the objectification of others to serve the power-hungry needs of megalomania, it is easy to see how this can be a recipe for disaster, especially when wrapped in a charismatic personality. Paradoxically, a person who exhibits such tremendous ego and self-confidence in reality has such low self-esteem and such a fragile ego that he cannot abide any expression other than his own, for fear of annihilation of the self. Therefore everything that is not under his control is perceived as a threat."

I see several people trying to do this. Jesus did not tell people to Go forth and convert.

You simply tell them. It's up too people to decide what they want.

Good Q*.

What is insecure about wanting others to know the truth? My Church was founded by God Himself, not by mere men, and He commanded it to "go forth and make disciples of all peoples". That is the Church's mission, and it would not be doing the will of its divine founder if it failed to pursue that mission to the ends of the earth and until the end of time.

I agree people who try to convert are controlling and want independent thinkers to join the masses. Live and let live. Stop judging people based on the church they belong to. Doesn't that coincide with the purpose of organized religion anyway.

I've heard this argument before and it doesn't make sense. It was obviously written by an Atheist. I don't try to convert people, I only live my life by example. Then if they ask questions, I tell them what keeps me together in tragic times.

You've actually got more people on here trying to convert everyone to Islam, so why don't you ask them?

Religions are run by churches, and churches "request" a part of your salary.

And membership organizations always require members to bring in new membership. Private clubs, professional organizations, alumni groups, and of course churches.

All a ponsi (or pyramid) scheme.

because it make them feel good about themselves, so they can see "hey god, i changed that person wheres my reward at God" or "man i such a good theoligan i bet noone can debate with me because i will alway win, i am the man" - but the main problem is that many people like this wear a very good mask underneath this insecurity, that good mask is acting friendly , acting like they care about you, acting holy, and so on.

People would do well to have faith in Jesus and his message of the Kingdom of God; they do not need religion at all, including the one that bears his name.
