It depends.

If the aid is from the school then they probably have a minimum number of hours that you have to complete, not pass, complete.

If it is from the government then you also have to stay within a certain number of hours each semester. If you drop below that number, then you typically must begin to pay back the aid.

If this is the case, you may be better off taking an F in the class, and retaking it next semester. Usually if you retake a course, the first bad grade is eliminated from your GPA and replaced with the better grade. It will stay on your transcript, but you can either petion to get it removed after a few years, or you can explain to the admissions/employer the circumstances of the first grade.

You have to take at least 6 units to get financial aid from the government. If you can drop the class and still have 6 units, you will not have to pay anything back but you will get less aid. (I'm assuming they haven't paid all your aid yet.)

Another option is to take the class Credit/no credit and just aim to get a C in the class. If you get the equivelent of a C in the class you will get credit for it and it won't affect your grade point average b/c they won't give you a grade.

oftentimes it is going to take transport of to you, yet once you're taking it devoid of assembly the financial help standards you would be positioned on financial help probation. you will could meet the standards the subsequent semester or you will no longer acquire financial help back. There are different thoughts than purely dropping training. you are able to desire to easily decrease the extensive style you're taking. as long as you're taking 6 credit hours (oftentimes 2 training) you are able to desire to acquire help for the summer. you are able to desire to touch the financial help place of work and ask how they preserve the financial help funds. My college takes out what's owed to them and sends the pupil something. If the pupil drops their training the refund is likewise sent to the pupil, however the pupil is positioned on FA Probation. there is an probability you will acquire the refund, yet each and every college is diverse.

If it is after a certain date, you won't have to pay it back immediately. However, if it is a loan, you will have to pay it back eventually. So unless there is an excellent reason for dropping the class, best get your money's worth.
