I am in a class called Microsoft Office Word 2003. We were given an assignment where we saved a letter with spelling errors on our flash drive, and I must correct the errors. I only have Microsoft Office Word 1995. Would this work to finish my assignments, or would I have to use the 2003 edition?

it is not possible UNLESS the file that was created in Office 2003 is saved as " Word 97-2003 & 6.0/95 " format USING OFFICE 2003...
you cant access the file in word 95 till then...

Your version of Office should have spell check. Otherwise, you can always do it the old-fashioned way, with a dictionary and your brain. I find that spell checkers are only semi-useful anyway. They don't recognize some legitimate words and they will give you a pass on a word that is spelled correctly but is the wrong word. For example "I support human writes" would pass a spell-checker, even though it makes no sense.
The only problem is if your version of Office will not open the version you saved. Under these circumstances, it is always best to save the document to an older or more universal format. (You do this under File-Save As.) You may lose the formatting but the words come through okay. If you can't open the document, obviously you can't finish the assignment. So let your teacher know what version of Office you have and maybe he/she can come up with a solution of how you should save the document in order to make sure you can open and edit it on your computer.

If the file was saved in Word 2003, chances are that Word 1995 won't be able to open it. Starting with Word 97, documents have been saved differently from the way Word 95 did. So you would have to upgrade to at least Word 97 in order to read Word 2003 files.
The only exception would be if they are saved in RTF format instead of DOC.

You can download MS Word viewer and find the errors then change them in your program. All you have to do, is print the paper, mark the changes on the paper and then go back to your normal program and change them. This is the link for the viewer. You won't be able to change anything in the viewer, it is just for viewing and printing.

You could ask your teach and they'd help ya out. I think it's possible but you have to format different. I think its as you "Save As" or something..but I'm not totally sure...lol...ask your teacher :-P
