Ready, set, .....stop
Go to your mirror.
Smile, and then smile again......see how good your look when you smile,
In the mirror, Ask yourself the hardest question you know.....
1. tell me about yourself. I would like to have this job because I'm smart, a quick learner, like people, and intend to work for the rest of my life....or intend to work my way through school...only if they like school.
My relatives were all hard and smart workers...and I intend to have the same good work ethic.
2. what is your worst enemy like? ...Sorry, I don't have any enemies....is the best answer.
3. How do you get along with others? Fine, I have friends that I see a lot, and some who are far away, but we stay in touch every now and then.
4. Do you intend to work hard? Yes, hard and smart.....I'm a fast learner.
Thanks for the opportunity to apply for this position. I feel I could make a positive contribution to your organization.
Bye for now....
....smile again, shake hands if appropriate....and remember it's just one in a "gajillion...my new word, for a trillion x 100000, interviews you may have in your life....and not all are for jobs.
Best of luck to you.....practice as long or as often as you like.
You are a likeable person....so smile at the mirror and practice again!....don't forget to smile at the end....ending impressions are just as important.

Be prepared. If you have filled in a cv and/ or an application form, remember what you wrote as you will likely be asked about it. Think how your past experiences/hobbies etc and skills are applicable for the interview/job etc. Find a few key things out about the prospective employer that you can talk about and show you are keen. Write a few key ideas down such as i'm confident at this because and - experienced at that etc
Keep a positive tone throughout the interview. At most interviews they ask you if you have any questions. Think of some before you go- not- how much will i get paid? or how long are my breaks? but things like- how many people are there in the team etc? what is the dress code? Or a question about the job etc- something that shows you are interested to learn.
Dress appropriately- smart casual for most manual jobs and a suit etc for most office/management jobs etc. Be confident, not arrogant and turn any negatives in to positives that the interviewers throw at you. There may be more than 1 interviewer, so be prepared for that. Make eye contact and smile now and then and stay calm.

The interviewing panel is trying to find out whether you will be right for the job, and whether you will be better than the other people they are interviewing.
There are some questions you can expect them to ask, and you should have short positive answers preferred. Typical questions would be:
- why do you want this job
- why do you want to work for us
- what skills do you have which would equip you for this job
- what relevant experience do you have
They may also ask you questions about yourself. For example if you have listed any hobbies on your form, they may ask you why you enjoy them or what made you start them. Saying something about enjoying team work or learning new skills or enjoying responsibility is good.
Do not tell any lies, but do say things that will sound encouraging to for the employer.
You may want the job for the money bu that's not a good thing to say; say something like you think this would be an interesting place to work because you could meet new people/develop your skills/put your skills to work doing something positive.
At the end they may ask you if you have any questions for them; don't ask about the pay or the holidays (you'll be told about that if they offer you the job anyway). Ask about training opportunities or how large the team is that you would be joining - something that sounds like you care about the job itself not the rewards.
Dress as the people who work there dress, only a little smarter. Make sure you are clean & tiday. Get there on time; don't chew gum or smoke. Smile but try not to giggle. Generally be polite, and try to be calm - they will understand that you are nervous.
Good luck!

Have 2 or3 copies of your CV with you in case they ask for it, and a good idea is to think of some questions you might like to ask beforehand and write them down in a little notebook. That way you look prepared. Of course, you have done some research into your potential employers, right? Then you can say "I was looking at this page on your website and I'd like to know more about ...". Ask a where/when/what/how/why question here.
