National Express are the best ones.

A few people have suggested Megabus - they are dreadful and can be expensive. One of the coaches broke down on a Motorway at night - the driver turned the lights off while passengers were on board, got off and walked away. It has been known to take 8 hours to get from Bristol to London.

You can't beat Megabus.
Unless you are a pensioner, in which case you qualify for free local bus travel, all you have to do to travel for free throughout the country is to plan your route well. You may discover some exciting or interesting spots the express busses miss out.

Why would they want to? With very little math, you can figure out that there aren't many people in the US who would benefit from that - maybe people that live right on the border - but the value of cheaper gas is less and less the longer you have to drive to get it. You can even get apps for your iPhone that will show you it's usually not worth it to go 4-5 miles out of your way to save ten cents per gallon. I also think you're a little over the top with your conspiracy theories. Oil companies earn profits of about 8% over costs, which is not really very much. The billions and trillions in profits are offset by billions and trillions in expenses, including the highest taxes in any industry. If you want to find out what really causes high gas prices, you should look no further than your own government. They have said that high energy costs are part of their agenda, they have made a clear case for it, and now they are doing it. Obama said in his campaign that by design, "Energy Prices Will Skyrocket". Steven Chu said in 2008, "Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe". Rahm Emanuel said in the early days of the administration, "You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it's an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before." Their agenda is to find alternate energy sources. I don't understand why this is a surprise, or why anyone thinks it should be denied. They have taken several steps to accomplish this agenda, which follow a very basic sales pitch. Ask any insurance agent, mutual fund salesperson, or car salesman about this process. 1. Describe the problem The "Global Warming" problem has waned a little in the public eye, and the Obama administration needs to keep the public worried - so he goes for the wallet. Regardless of speculators, banks, oil companies - the law of "Supply And Demand" are still a major factor in the price of gasoline. The natural cycles of supply and demand aren't enough for this administration - so they do what they can to "tweak" the prices, as follows: They have rescinded the ban on domestic exploration on federal lands. When Bush lifted this ban during his administration, the act drove prices down. They have closed deep-water drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. This put hundreds of people out of work, and caused prices to spike. They have blocked virtually every new drilling lease on land, offshore, and in deep water. They have blocked the Keystone pipeline, which would facilitate the efficient delivery of Canadian oil to the world market. They have continued with the decades-old moratorium on the construction of new refineries. 2. Show how the problem will affect us very negatively, and/or blame others for the problem He doesn't need to do much for this. We know how this hurts every time we fill our tanks. If he can keep us worried about it, and let us feel the pain for a while - and keep us from even considering reopening any leases, any domestic exploration, any domestic production - we will look to him for another solution to the problem. If he can get us to blame the oil companies, the banks, the previous administration for the problem, all the better. 3. Offer a viable solution This is where he has a problem. He has invested heavily in "green energy" sources, hoping that Solyndra would be popular, the Volt would succeed, his "contest" for a green lightbulb would yield a cheaper solution than the $50 bulb Phillips developed ... he has made a dozen more "investments" like this, none of which can he use as a "flagship" for his agenda. If any or all of these had succeeded, he could keep the "Hope and Dream" dialogue alive - convincing us to just bear the pain a little longer, because the future is right around the corner. As long as you continue to blame the corporations for price-gouging without really understanding the problem, you are right in their pocket. This is no conspiracy. Conspiracies are secret - Obama has made no secret about his agenda.

http://www.megabus.com/uk/timetables/ goes to Bournemouth. Is that any good?

Otherwise, it's National Express - fares appear to start at £8.
