My boyfriend has been living here for 5 years and he came from Trinidad with his mom. He claims he recieved a notice saying that he was clear and his green card would come "soon."? The year is almost over and nothing has happened yet. He tunred 18 in march and was recently kicked out of High School. He only had 1 year left. His mom, which is overprotective, keeps all his info (passport, EVERYTHING) locked up and is only home about 1 week in a month because of her job. I want to know, what are his options? Can he work? Can he finish school? Can he go to college? Right now all he does is just sit around the house. Is there really no choice?

If your boyfriend is 18, then he has attained the age of majority and is considered an adult. He is also old enough to be responsible for his own actions, such as staying in school, getting a GED, finding a job, etc.

He can contact the local DHS/CIS office to get replacements/copies of any US immigration documents his overprotective mother is safeguarding.

(Why isn't he the one asking the questions?)

And you want a relationship with this guy? Why?

He is now an adult, and he needs to start taking care of things himself. First, he takes his passport and other papers back from his mother - if she has them locked up, either go the legal route and get a court order for their return, or just force open the strong box or whatever and take them.

Then he makes an appointment with the immigration service, takes all his papers, and asks them to check his status. If they tell him he has to leave, he'll have to leave.

At his age, he's a MAN, not a CHILD - it's time he started acting like one. And why isn't he here asking for help, instead of sending his gf?

Lets see, he gets kicked out of high school and now sits around the house all day doing nothing. I don't think you need to look at his immigration status to determine what to do here. From your own words I take it he is a piece of shlt, just dump him. As for his immigration status, I will not give you any advice, if he can't take the initiative to check on it him self, then he might as well be deported for being lazy.

Honey, life comes with responsibility, and responsibility for our actions as adults is the best remedy you can use to solve your boyfriend,s actions, the realization of such will make him step up and be accountable, like any strong woman you should take a stand or you will have two babies to house, clothe and feed,A famous singer called Sparrow once sang a song which said "you can,t make love without money" and being responsible as a man is first and foremost in the beginning of any relationship, first to self and then to others.
