If you know for a fact who smashed up your home then you should tell the police who it was. Alot of times it is your word against theirs. Is there proof? Was there a significant amount of damage done? Was anyone harmed? Were you in any kind of argument with the accused? Do you have insurance?
You can try small claims court. If you have the persons name, address, ect. And you don't mind paying the small fee to open up a small claims case then that is your best bet. Remember, if you win that does not always guarentee you will get the money. Also you need to have estimates from verifiable sources. Good luck.

If you know who smashed your house you can go through the legal system get a warnt and take them to court and ask the judge to force them to pay you the damages to your house. When you get a warnt on a person the police or sherif has to arrest that person and place then in jail until they make bond

It sucks but my town is the same way. The police don't work on solving serious crimes- instead they patrol and write out traffic tickets, noise ordinace violations and deal with other small infractions of the law.. Don't ask me why nobody works on the serious offenses.

If the police caught the parties responsible, then you can sue them in Civil Court - if they are charged and go to court, then you can ask the Prosecutor to ask for an Order for Compensation. But if no one was caught, you have no recourse.

You can sue the people if you know who they are.
You can turn in a claim to your insurance company.
You can call the DA and see if there is any chance of it making it to trial.

File a civil suit against that person, but make sure you are absolutely sure that it was that exact person that did it.
