If you are travelling on holiday try the following:-
Take the travel brochures (of the place that you are visiting) with you and start listing down the places where you are planning to visit and what you are going to do as you reach your destination - this you just do to kill the time.
If this does not work then you should look at something more serious. Have you heard about EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)? Look on the internet and search for EFT (or visit a website which I have just found for you www.emofree.com). Follow the guidelines and start practicing it immediately, there are no pills or other drugs that you need to take! hence there are no side effects.
Please do not ignore this message, I am saying this for your own benefit. I have seen and met people who suffered from various types of conditions, from migranes to depressions to phobias to anything else and many of them admitted that EFT has helped them a lot in overcoming such difficulties.
Do try EFT, it has no side effects and it is free. Should someone asks you for money let me know (via e-mail) and I will send you some documentation which I have about EFT (for free of course).
I wish you Good Luck! and miracles do happen.....

My wife used to be the same as you, that is until she found the answer, although it can be quite expensive. The first time we flew we were delayed for 2 hours so she said right lets go home, instead we went to the bar and she consumed a half bottle of whisky and slept for the entire journey.
By the bye if the plane does'nt come down then it could be a problem you do'nt want to be up there forever do you ?

I was scared stiff of flying.
I'd read all kinds of books and took all kinds of pills but they didn't work. I was scared but I had a flight to Dublin so I boarded it. After a while on the plane I wanted it to just set off so it would be over with as soon as possible. It took off and I can assure you it didn't come down - only 1 in a 100000000000000000000000000000 planes come down (not a fact)
Don't worry. Aeroplanes are safer than cars. You don't worry about going out in the car do you?
Good luck,
Book a short flight,
Give it a shot!
Be pleased that you will conquer your fear.
Congratulate yourself after each stage eg. booking the flight.
And most of all enjoy it!
Best wishes,
Adam

For myself, I found sipping water to avoid dehydration necessary and bread, after some time, to settle the stomach. Treatment From pulling your hair to drinking sauerkraut juice, home remedies for hangovers abound. Pharmacy shelves are often stocked with hangover remedies as well. But in the end, time is the only sure cure. Here are a few things you can do to help yourself feel better in the meantime: Fill your water bottle. Sip water or fruit juice to prevent dehydration. Resist any temptation to treat your hangover with more alcohol. It'll only make you feel worse. Be careful with caffeinated beverages, too. Caffeine acts as a diuretic, which may increase dehydration. Additionally, caffeinated beverages may make you think you're alert when you're really not. Have a snack. Bland foods, such as toast and crackers, may boost your blood sugar and settle your stomach. Bouillon soup can help replace lost salt and potassium. Foods and drinks that contain fructose, such as honey or fruit juice, may help your body burn the alcohol faster. Take a pain reliever. An over-the-counter pain reliever may ease your headache. But there are a few caveats. Aspirin can irritate your stomach. And if you sometimes drink alcohol to excess, acetaminophen (Tylenol, others) can cause severe liver damage. Go back to bed. If you sleep long enough, your hangover may be gone when you awaken.

I am too, it helps to talk to others about it. I never used to be until I had a son, when I fly with him I feel a wreck inside but can't show it. The slightest turbulence, I think we are going to crash. I imagine the wings falling off, the engine exploding, the landing gear sticking, you name it. And as if all that wasn't enough, now we have to fear being blown up in mid air. I work myself into a frenzy. It is one of the most common phobias, and if like me you do not want to drug yourself up to the eyeballs, and you want to travel abroad, you must force yourself to do it. There is no cure, no amount of logic will get through, it is something we have to live with or never go anywhere for fear of what might happen. I am in total sympathy with you.

This is called Flying Phobia. Now, it is a curable disease and it doesnot need a miracle. So get up and hurry to your GP to refer you to a Psychiatrist to put you on a way at the end of it you would takeoff and no one can stop you flying around the world.

Well let`s hope it does come down or you will be a nervous wreck! Breathing deep helps ,chew a sweet, face front no peeping out to see whether you are off the ground.imagine being in a lift y`know that bit that your stomach goes before the ground floor! piece of cake.

Is it flying that you are terrified of, or crashing. That is my fear, but Valium is a big help although it doesn't stop the plane crashing if that is what it is going to do!!!
