I have to say no. . My vet told me that the formula for Pepto has been changed. It was once OK for a dog, but not any longer. Not sure exactly why though. The best thing to do is take your the vet. The vet may want to do blood work. good luck. I hope your doggy feels better soon.

Yes. A half a tab (the tablets are much easier to administer than the liquid) three times a day should be fine. Be aware that pepto will cause your dog's stools to be very dark. Also, if you are planing to take it to the vet you may not want to give a dose within several hours (if your appointment is before noon, no pepto at all, if it is late afternoon give the dose early in the morning) or at least inform your vet that you are giving pepto in case they need to take x-rays. As someone else has already pointed out, if your dog's diarrhea continues for more than a day or two or is particularly ugly you need to at least take a stool sample to your vet for testing.

I agree with everybody above me. It is NOT okay to give your dog pepto-bismal. It made for humans, not pets. Pets are very different from humans, and your dog would probably have a bad reaction to the pepto-bismal. I would suggest taking it to the vet, as the people above me have already said.

It is fine to give your dog pepto, it is very safe, your lab can have a teaspoon up to 3 x's a day, but if in a couple of days it doesnt help, then you need to go to a vet.

Yes you can give your dog pepto bismal. My veterinarian advise me to give my dog pepto bismal to settle an upset stomach. My dog sometimes eat inedible objects.

Pepto Bismol does not kill dogs, matter of fact I had to give Pepto AND aspirin to my dog following her heartworm treatments right after I adopted her. She was a Golden Retriever.
However, you need to find out why your dog is sick. If she's only thrown up once or twice I wouldn't give her anything, but if it's been more than that get her to the vet as soon as possible.

I really wish people would research before answering a question
Yes, it is a Treatment of diarrhea, vomiting, and indigestion in dogs. You should call a vet,

If diarrhea persists or worsens, contact your veterinarian. Corrective Mixture: 0.11 ml/pound once, then 0.05 ml/pound every 6 hours. Treatment should only be needed for 1-2 days. If diarrhea persists or worsens, contact your veterinarian.
Tongue color may darken temporarily. Stool may turn a gray-black or greenish color during treatment.

There are certain human meds you can give to your dog and I am not sure if pepto-bismo is one. Check with your vet first, or be on he safe side and go to the pet stores they sell meds especially made for dogs.

No not unless your vet says it's ok. We give it to our dog AFTER the vet dignosed him with stomach upset. Your dog may have an ailment that needs medicine that isn't pepto. Also giving people medicine to a dog can kill them. For example Advil and Tylenol are fine for people but can kill dogs! Please check with a vet first.

I agree with pinkpiggies above. I have used it for my German Shepherds and it works well. Of course you know dogs aren't the same as humans but we both have intestines and our poop all comes out the same place. The only thing I have ever heard of killing a animal regarding human meds is giving cats Tylenol 3 don't do it EVER!
