It's sociey's fascination and obsession with youth. Youth has come to mean beautiful, full of life, desirable. The effects of this are usually, at least in my opinion, restricted to women, and not men. Younger men can be associated with inexperience and immaturity. On the other hand, society sees older men as distinguished, seasoned, and handsome.

That is the age that you are seen as old. As a 30-year-old in Korea, the Hanguel term used for me means 'old woman' or 'married woman'. Yes, the same word is used for both. Before I turned 30, people would only use the term when they knew I was married.

No one really wants to find the eastern equivalent of the western 'GILF'. GILF-think of the term MILF from American Pie. Now remember that grandma starts with a 'g'. Ewww, right?

The adversion to dating a 30-something woman is lessened if the woman is not Asian-she has the 'exotic factor' to balance the scales, so to speak. Their is always the old joke about 'the automatic 8'...on a scale of 1 to 10, foreign women, esp. white women, become an automatic 8 when they live in Asia.

because its assumed they aren't fertile, and they are either defective or widows, and nobody wants to raise someone else's kids.
