This was said in a time that Hemingway was obessed with bullfighting and had suffered with depression and paranoia and he truly felt that they were the only ones that could "take the bull by the horns" in life- a quote from a close friend of Hemmingway: "Hemingway’s obsession with that bullfight photograph is the first solid instance that he had lost control of his persona. Only those who fight the challenges of life, live thier life with respects and regards. If they win the world admire them and respect them, and if they loose atleast they are died with respect as a fighting soldier, not as a coward.
