she said no
if she is worth it, try again and ask her to meet you for lunch. lunch is very nonthreatening and hard to say no to

Sounds more like no than yes. The fact there is multi layers to her answer about why she cannot go when there is only one real reason (her friend's gathering) is the key. If that is the only reason then what is the relevence of the cafe? I think she weighed it up and the fact she hasn't been to the cafe is somehow an issue with her (or her parents if applicable). I feel she is letting you down gently. I wouldn't mind betting that her so called friend's gathering is just her catching up with her buddy...not really an 'official' pre-planned gathering at all...just an escape clause to mask the real reason.
The good part is that it is still somewhat open-ended. However, I would have thought if she was keen on you then she may have been a bit more specific about a possible future meeting rather than a 'raincheck' and 'maybe sometime else'. They seem like rather vague responses. Still, it's worth following up, as her response may be simply part of the process.
Someone else mentioned lunch. That sounds like a good idea as it provides a specific start and end point from her perspective and may prove to be a bit more casual and comfortable.
Try to find a better alternative to email next time. Good luck.

Give her a raincheck like she asked, the next week e-mail her and see when she might be going to the cafe again or somewhere else and meet up with her and ask her out properly. Good luck.

It's horrible, it sounds like she just isn't into you. If she was being sincere, she wouldn't have used such a lame excuse about not ever going to the cafe, she could have went to check it out. Even if she couldn't have went to it on the night you ask, she could have said we can check it out some other time. I just think she made up the excuse about her friend so that she could get out of going. Forget about her, she couldn't even be honest with you. She tried to be nice, but it wasn't the best way at going about it. That's just in my opinion. She didn't want to hurt your feelings, but it's clear that she doesn't like you.

Take it at face value... A raincheck says she's saying no to Sunday, but it's certainly worth another try.

I think she wants to go but she can't get out of a previous engagement. So ask again in the future if she says no and give a lame reason then move on.

Dude, you have to ask at least through the phone, show her that you are a real man not afraid of rejection. Say something like, "Hey, I am going to get a nice coffee, wanna join?", make it casual, so that you don't scare her off. In your case, at least she has the decency to reply, so take it easy, Try again.

ok, it's a raincheck
she is saying she is not familiar with that cafe so it would be difficult for her to timetable meeting you there and then going on to the gathering because she is not sure where it is and how to find parking or transport.

Sounds to me like she already has plans. It also sounds like she is not turning you down - just wants to go out with you another day and time. Her answer sounds very positive about going out with you when she does not already have something to do.

it is difficult to say whether it means a yes or a no.
If I were you I would leave a couple of days and re-invite her. Her answer might be clearer this time.
Good luck
