I want to transfer mini DV to DVD's. What software is recommended?

Will I need a special wire or cord to hook up the camcorder to the computer.

Your computer needs to have a firewire port to which you can connect your camcorder using a firewire cable with the correct connectors.

Your camcorder should have include some video editing software for transferring the video. Or you can also use any number of available video editing softwares such as: Pinnacle Studio, Ulead VideoStudio, Adobe Premiere (Elements), and even Microsoft Movie Maker.
