Test drive them yourself. What someone else says is not necessarily going to be right for you. I had several family members swear by the Honda Civic, for example, but I couldn't see properly out of it and the seats were darn uncomfortable, and the acceleration was pitiful.
I'd driven Nissan's as rental cars and never liked them much. I ended up with a Chevy Cavalier and love it. (A four door as I discovered when I sat in a two door, I couldn't see out the rear window at all! There's a big safety concern to consider.)
But definitely be sure you test drive anything you're considering, not just rely on the answers of others. Think about the weather per seasons in your area as well and how the car will perform in different types of weather, if you're able to see comfortably out of all points in the car that you would be looking out to check for traffic when switching lanes, etc.

Definately civic..way better on resale, and fantastic in every other way. If you're looking at the Versa, consider the Honda Fit - t's really more in the same class as the Versa.

Go for the Honda Civic we have had 4 Hondas and they where all great cars. Very dependable!!! Well I have a Jetta now and love it also.

Personally I like the civic. They are easy to modify and creat your own special touch as well as excellent on gas mileage and they last forever!!!!!
