drink out of it. the next day put a ittle food in the bowl. remember if he eats it praise him and say hes a good boy

I'm just gonna make a suggestion. Buy a bowl that is very low down like almost as flat as the floor such as a tray or plate. As soon as she starts to eat out of it give her some time and then buy one thats a little higher up. and keep going until its a regular sized bowl. My dog used to only eat off the floor too.

This is very common in small dogs. Especially Terriers. Even if you get you dog to eat from a dish, it could be that the dog will remove the food from the dish & either place it on the floor or carry it into another room to eat it. There is nothing wrong with this. As long as the dog/food are in a place where no one is going to walk in it or get hurt, let the dog be. Also, it could be that since your older dog has been eating out of this same dish, the younger one needs its own dish. Another suggestion, use stainless steel dishes (odors can't penetrate stainless) & wash frequently.

My german shepard kind of does the same thing. She will eat out of the bowl if we are in the kitchen, but if we are in the living room or something, she'll grab a mouthfull of food and bring it in the livingroom, drop it on the floor and eat it off of the floor. She will do that no matter what room we are in. What helped was if we were in the living room, we'd move her dish in there so she could eat in there with us. She just wanted to be near us when she ate...a little weird, but it worked.

Put the food on a flat plate or tray. The way a dog's mouth is made it is easier to eat off a flat surface or rug where they can pick each piecee up individually. Try it yourself. Is it easier to pick food up off a table with your lips or from a bowl without getting it in your nore ansd all over your face.
