I suppose. However, if you read the original Greek or Hebrew ... then there is no possibility of mistranslation.
And, yes, the Son is even mentioned in the O.T. (i.e., the Tanakh, the Hebrew Scriptures).

JIBBA JABBA, NO,NOT A mistake.Throughout the ages GOD has communicated with mankind on a level they could relate to. Such as paganism,various gods as aphrodite,applo eros, Burning bushes also jesus taught in parables,explaining them only to his closest deciples. USing terms such as father son holy spirit,sons of GOD,adopted into sons of GOD,the christ all these things because humanity was not yet prepared to hear the absolute truth. GOD DWELLS WITHIN YOU AS YOU. he finally spoke and said to his deciples YOU are GODS,and you are SONS of GOD later he turned paul loose,see ephensians 2-22 & 4-4/6.

The simple asnwer is "no". The term "Son of God" was not unique (to the Christians) within the religious terminolgy of the Greco-Roman world. Certainly, the understanding of the term, as applied to Christ, was unique to the Christians.

Anything is possible and I honestly believe that probably were many mistranslated things....that is probably were many differing of opinions come in.

"Son of God" is a title the early christian church attributed to Jesus to proclaim him above all others, namely Caesar Augustus who claimed divinity between a human parent and a god.

I don't think Hebrew word for son sounds the same with the Hebrew word for son.

may be they translated the "servant of God" to the "son of God". In Arabic the word son is pronounced "EBN" and the word servant is pronounced "ABD"
may be they translated from a similar language where the two words are so close in spelling or pronounciation..!
