The anti-biotics are pretty much ineffective against a ear infection. The pain killer will help the discomfort. If you want fast relief and healing for her get medical grade Tea Tree oil and dilute one drop of Tea Tree to 10 drops olive oil. A drop or 2 in each ear when she complains of discomfort will do it. Usually the first treatment is all you need. Just make sure the oil is not cold that can be very uncomfortable for a few seconds.

when my son was a baby, and throughout his toddler years, he got alot of ear infections. These ear infections surfaced every time he had a fever. Fever and ear infections commonly happen at the same time. He would pull his ear with his hand and scream from the inner ear pain. I would rush him to his doctor or hospital at the very first sign of these symptoms and the doctor would prescribe an antibiotic, amoxicillian, that i would give him until the entire antibiotic was used up. In less than 2 days the painful symptoms were gone, and in less than 5 days, my baby was back in good health. Only the use of a prescribed antibiotic can stop an ear infection. Once the infection is stopped by the antibiotic, the pain stops as well. Try childrens tylenol for pain but remember the root or cause of the pain will remain WITHOUT an antibiotic. Give her plenty of fluids and let her rest alot until the antibiotic has a chance to work.

my daughter had quite a bout with this too, but never received pain killers, I've actually never heard of that with young children. But they do have a drop that can be put in the ear that topically helps with pain. It did seem to help with the symptoms, but they continued to return, so we had to result to tubes. it caught my attention though, becuase my husband did get pain killers and steroids to help with his. good luck and i'd advise research, i know it can be a miserable time.

well obviusly, the antibiotics are for the ear infection itself. it is used to eradicate any bacteria in the ear causing the pain and fever. the pain reliever is to alleviate the pain your child is experiencing. the pain itself is really uncomfortable so i suggest you just divert your child's attention by renting a movie and watching it with your child.

The drugs were prescribed for her right? In a few days she will be back to normal. Let her veg on the couch with you - she needs the rest to heal.
