Should I sell the dog for less and pay her the difference so she'll never know? She paid for the dog its vet bills & food.

Since she pays for the dog's care, tell her it's going to cost more the longer the dog stays. It's obvious "Mom" got stuck with the dog. I'd sell the dog for less than she wants, but you get to choose the family it goes to and don't make up the difference. She needs to learn this lesson.

It's hard to get the "asking" price because you really can't put a price on a dog, and you never get back what you paid for the dog or what you put in for vet/health and feeding.

Do not sell the dog:
1. Without her permission
2. For less than she asks without permission

If you do sell the dog, and it's less than her asking price, then do not give her the difference. What type of dog is it? How old is it? Is it spayed or neutered?

Yr daughter has 2 dogs, but just cares for 1. Why doesn't she care for the other dog, it NEEDS, just like the other one.? The main thing is that the dog has a proper home where he/she is taken care of. Sell the dog for sell, but don't tell her. What "teen" has the money or is responsible enough to take care of a dog, without mom or dad? The teen is growing up - is not grown already. Even though I had dogs while I was growing up, the never paid for their care, til I was working and out of school., I had enough to do to GROW UP!

I'm not exactly sure what you mean when you say she only cares for one. Does this mean she ignores the dog, or will she feed it and let him out to go potty, but just doesn't like the dog?

Either, way, I have to agree with the person who said that you shouldn't pay the difference. She needs to learn that life isn't always the way you want or expect just because you don't like something.. I think it's a lesson better learned while she is young and still living at home.

Who's idea was it to have the other dog? Hers? I don't want to sound mean and cruel, buy if it was her idea, then she needs to accept responsibility and stat taking care of him or her.

Good luck. I hope everything works for all involved.

I wouldn't pay the difference. She will have to learn about life at some point in time and what better time then now when she is still living at home. Why does she have two dogs and refuses to care for one? That may be a lesson in responsibility right there.

no and yes. She needs to take care of both of the dogs and if nobody will pay her what she wants for the dog then you somehow have to pursuade her to lower the price a little. And most of the time you just have to take the best price and best owner for the dogs sake.
