if we are talking large armies vs large armies (on an open battlefield--and none of that cowardly terrorism crap) it would be a draw between China (largest Army in the world) vs the United States (technolically superior weaponry).

Russia and India would be tied for a close third, but their military hasn't been updated in 15 years...and their equipment degrades rapidly (since they both continue to support the old Soviet idea of "quantity vs quality")

of course.......I would rather NOT see another world war.....even a conventional one......

****UPDATED****** I read the response below...that is correct, CHINA does get it's weapons technology from Japan (and South Korea and the United States)...but their Air Force is not as large (I dispute your claim below) nor is it upgraded to meet the standards of large scale bombing (they had to purchase a few outdated Russian Blackjack bombers just to have a "bomber force".) Agreed, their special operations group is rather huge....but their entire military force is outdated....about 20 years to be exact....they would pose a HUGE threat to us back in 1988...but this is 2006...and so they LACK ICBM capability (yes, they do---even for conventional purposes) and they lack certain technologies (laser guided munitions and even GPS)....even Japan has given them limited technology with their arms trades (why do you think we got so upset with the EU tried to sell them updated aircraft parts?)

thank you for your response, buddhadharma02....you get a "thumbs up" from me for providing a genuine counter-arguement...

China.

Even with the exclusion of nucleur weaponry....they have an insane amount of ground forces/weaponry, ballistic weaponry, air force, navy, not to mention a ton...and I mean a TON of special operations units.

We think we're so damned tough in this nation...they'd eat our lunch like it was nothing.

Also, for the gentleman above who said we were a technologically superior army....he should really do his homework before saying such things. China gets a ton of tech from Japan....trust me, their technology is perfectly capable of matching ours.

its quite simple America has a big army we have plenty of subs, ships, planes, missiles, and bombs to do similar damage without nuclear power. even better being a world war that should mean a full scale war without heavy limits on bombing unlike the limited war now.

Switzerland. They would stay neutral, thus preventing the loss of life and property. In my opinion, that would make them the winner.

well i would think it depends on who is allied and who is fighting. the us is obviously the most powerfull state so yea. but if it were say. us vs. all of asia. we would prolly lose. due to numbers. but our tech. is really advanced. unless you threw japan in w/ asia. then you kno wre kinda even except that we have more bombs. prolly. i dunno?
