Trust me when I say this, STAY AWAY FROM THAT ENGINE!!!!! I am a Chrysler technician and speaking from plenty of experience working on cars with those engines. They sludge up terribly, even if you keep your oil change regularly. They don't have sufficient power for that big of a car. If you don't want to spend the big bucks for the Hemi, then I really think that you will really like the 3.5 V-6. It is a high output engine that is also very good on gas considering the size of the Magnum, which by the way is an awesome ride. And, the 3.5 has a very very good reputation in everything it has been in since it came out in the early 90's. The 2.7 still has plenty of bugs to be worked out. Until that day comes, I'd urge everyone I know to stay clear from it unless they just want to constantly spend money. Hope this helped.

Dont do it the 2.7 barely has enough power to even pull the car. Go with the 3.5 has power not like the hemi but is a whole lot better and the reason I know is because I rented both cars.

That engine is voted worst by mechanics who work on cars. Little motor has to push a large car around just get the Hemi with displacement on demand or whatever Chrysler calls it. You will be much happier when it comes time to sell it and powering onto the freeway. Of course if all you do is go back and forth to church and grocery shopping V-6 won't save you much either.

One of the worst engine/chassis combos ever thrust on the buying public. Very underpowered. In regards to the gas mileage. It is rated pretty well but I seriously doubt that owner's even come close as they are having to "keep their foot in it" all the time.
Get the hemi and go easy on the gas pedal.

Plenty powerful with 250 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque.
I heard it gets 23 miles per gallon.
This would not be my vehicle of choice. I just don't like the style.
