Crackers, Crackers Every where
Fired by the rich and the haves;
Hunger burns the poor bellies
But no morsel to eat they have.
No light to lamp their huts,
Even a Diwali is dark at home.
Amidst mindless show of blitz.
True Diwali should bring cheers
To the poor and the needy
With sweetness and light
Spread on the lives of the humble.

Makes sense. Why would anyone who has already been there try to restart something that has already gone its course?
People are not as silly as some would believe and Crackers are a good example of how naive opponents are. The slogan," Say No To Crackers" hits it right on target and it should be a bumper sticker on every automobile, especially in California.

People chant the slogan “Say no to crackers” for Diwali. I have not heard all these great preaching for other festivals in India and abroad when lot of crackers is ignited.
I was in USA on their recent independence day and I witnessed a cracker show in Ashburn, Virginia that lasted for an hour.
I would like to invite attention of all the people who believe in celebrating Diwali that there is a well-organized campaign by vested interests to malign the magnificence of Diwali. These elements even misguide young students to condemn firing crackers on Diwali, which is their main festival.
If you celebrate Diwali, just go for as much crackers as you want to crack. Do not listen to the people who do not want you to celebrate one of the greatest festivals in the world. However, do it very carefully… do not hurt yourselves… keep children away from crackers…
Do not listen to unsolicited advices and celebrate your festival in the way you want to do.
Happy Diwali

This slogan is applicable only when you are playing crackers in front of your house. In order to avoid untoward incidence that may happen and every chance of getting injured or even loosing life while crackers are used in the residence or in front of the open area. It is not possible to watch the movements of children carefully, say no to crackers.

Individual Perspective. Diwali, does that mean to burst crackers and celebrate. We are loosing the essence of what it actually means. Very well said by NADAVATHI VSP, "GARLAND OF LIGHTS. DEEPA MEANS LIGHT AND AVALI MEANS A NECKLACE OR A GARLAND. IT IS TO BE ENJOYED BY SHARING HAPPYNESS WITH FAMILY, FRIENDS, NEIGHBOURS, LOCALITY AND THE COMMUNITY."
Think about Nature, why are we polluting it..!! Just for sake of enjoyment. please dont say now for rituals and traditions bla bla bla.. Blessings

"Say No To Crackers" is an upsurd idea....what else would you do on Diwali??? play cricket?
And for the guys who talk of pollution...stop driving around in your cars and bikes...you're contributing to pollution which is far more than from all the crackers burst in your street.
Instead of all these upsurd slogans...we should emphasise on safety, organize community fireworks...which promote safe and happy diwali celebrations.

DEEPAVALI FESTIVAL IS CALLED IN SOUTHERN STATES OF INDIA MEANing GARLAND OF LIGHTS. DEEPA MEANS LIGHT AND AVALI MEANS A NECKLACE OR A GARLAND. IT IS TO BE ENJOYED BY SHARING HAPPYNESS WITH FAMILY, FRIENDS, NEIGHBOURS, LOCALITY AND THE COMMUNITY. LIGHTING CRACKERS AND BURSTING SENDS A WRONG SIGNAL DEMONSTRATING A VULGER DISPLAY OF MONEY POWER OF THE HAVE'S TO THE HAVENOT'S. Environment is also polluted by noice and chemicals
