Trying to take my son to a West Point football game and unbelievably, I can't find any direct info on how to get there from either the West Point website, Amtrak.com, or the Metro North schedules. For either Amtrak or Metro North, which is the closet train station? And once you get off the train, how do you get to the football stadium (walk? cab?)?

Thanks!

I have found a few links. The first is a map of the surrounding areas around West Point. If you want to take Metro North, use the second link. You would be leaving from Grand Central Station and arriving in Peekskill or Garrison (both are about 11 miles and 25 minutes). If you want to use Amtrak, use the third link. You would be leaving from Penn Station and arriving Poughkeepsie, NY. It is 29 miles and about an hour. Once you arrive at either location, I believe that you will have to take a cab. I hope this helps. Take care.

Nearest Metro-north station is Beacon, NY - across the river from West Point. However, you can also take the PATH into Hoboken and do NJ Transit up to Salisbury Mills - it's a little closer.
Neither of these is super close to the Point - you're still looking at a half hour drive to the grounds.

My recommendation - rent a car and come up the Thruway (I-87) to exit 16 and follow the signs over Route 6 to the roundabout nearest there. There's really no other feasible way - other than hiring a car service.

According to their website, the best way to get to West Point from the city is by public transit. Take the Metro-North's Hudson Line from Grand Central to Garrison. The trip from the city to Garrison takes around 70 minutes each way and a round trip off peak ticket will cost you $22.50. Once in Garrison, you can take a taxi from the train station, which is located on the east bank of the Hudson River, to West Point on the west bank. I hope this information is very helpful. Good luck

um, rent a car and drive. the cab fare would be a lot, added on to the train fares. you may have to get a visitors pass though, and they may want to search your car. mapquest it. to walk to the football field would be ridiculous.

Call WestPoint and ask them. I know there is a bus that goes "near there," other than that . . I don't know. Call and ask for suggestions.
