No it is not contagious. Although if the edema is so bad that it is oozing from the skin, you need to take precautions. Because thru this transfer you can get many different diseases that they may have. It is the same as any other bodily fluid transfer. But again as far as the edema itself, NO it is not contagious.

NO. Edema is the buildup of fluids in places. Edema can't be contagious. The conditions that CAUSE edema (such as poisoning, for instance) can be contagious, but being around someone with edema won't, in any way, shape, or form, give you it.

Edema is certainly non contagious!...Edema occurs when when body fluid escapes into extracellular interstitial spaces. This causes swelling.
But all swellings are not 'Edema'. There is one disease called 'Filariasis', which causes swelling of limbs. This disease is caused by parasitic worms. And this is spread from person to person by mosquito bite. But this disease is very rare.
