No, you have to be 18, or get a parent to sign. And honestly, any tatoo company who would let your 19 yr old friend sign for you, I wouldn't trust with a tatoo, or my personal safety.

Alright Doll,

First off, 14 is much too young to get a tattoo. I say this for two reasons, the one you have heard a lot, you will most likely ignore or deny, but your tastes will change, and there is always that chance that you will regret it. Also, if you are 14, you body still needs time to grow, especially if you are a girl. There is always the chance that your tattoo will stretch or shift on your body, and look really bad. You're right for wanting to go to a professional, but just wait. Any reputable tattoo shop will ask for a photo ID of yours and your parents, and I know some pleaces that require a birth certificate and parent's ID to even think about it. Some places you cannot be underage and tattooed at all. I do not know of any places that substitute a friend's signature for a parent's. That would be an irresponsible practitioner, and would probably not risk their liscences and job for you, and since you're underage, your waiver would be null and void, and then your parents could press charges..

Just draw out what you want, keep many ideas with a design, and work on it for the next four years, that's what I did. Put personal resason and representation in your tattoo, and a lot of time and thought, and it will mst likely please you more when you get it. it's a shitty wait...but it's A LOT better that you wait...I don't want you to grow up hating your tattoo and going through a lot of pain and money to remove it..!

Nope. I wanted one when I was 16, but the law is you have to be 18, regardless of being able to get parental consent. The reason why it's like that is because some parents would let their 6 year old get tattooed. Just think of it this way... if you're 14 now you can decide for 4 years about what kind of tattoo you want. Hey, maybe 4 years from now you'll change your mind? Good luck!

Your friends and the guy doing the tattoos could get in serious trouble and your'e doing the right thing by not following. If there really that serious about getting tattoos they should talk to their parents about it and tell them why they would like to get one, they should have some GOOD reasons or it won't do them much good. If that doesnt go threw try suggesting a henna tattoo, its healthy, lasts up to a month, and it can be of anything. They guy below is also right, there permanent and if they get infected or don't turn out right, your scared FOR LIFE! I currently have a henna and it's really cool! try it !! You can get it professionly or just at home.

No. A parent or guardian must sign a waiver for authorization and no fault. Some states won't even let a 14 yr old get a tattoo with or without permission from your parent or guardian. It's illegal to even have them on the premises in some states. There's no rush I mean once you have one its permanent. Don't rush yourself eventually if your serious you'll come of age and get one or decide not to get one after all. Whatever you choose I wish you the best. :)

If you are under 18, any reputable tattoo parlour will insist on having a parent or guardian's signature, they won't accept a friend's signature. Getting a tattoo can be a risky business and if something goes wrong your parents can sue.

no u can't. u have to be 18. the only way for u to get a tattoo at 14 is to get a friend or someone off the street to do it for u, which i wouldn't recommend considering it could get infected. waiting until ur 18 would be the best idea that way u are sure that u really want it... that is what i did

Nope, not legally.

But illegaly, you sure can.

Now, it's my personal opinion that you should wait until you are positive you want the damn thing before you get it done. i have this tattoo of a dancing taco on my left leg that i got when I was 11 and believe me, I sort of regret it now.

That being said, DIY tattooing, when done safely, can have awesome results. But, you asked about pro. tatting, I think. So the answer is...no, you either wait till you're a legal adult, do it illegally, or take a trip to Amsterdamn-they tattoo everybody there.

I think you're parents actually have to be there to give consent, rather than just a note. I don't think any clean place is going to let a friend sign for you, just ecause they are over 18 doesn't make them a guardian. They really aren't going to take the risk of being sued by your parents if the note is fake or your friend signs, wait it out.

Sorry but No you can't you have to have your parent consent for it. They are not dumb and will not risk their licenses just so you can get a tattoo. Likewise if they did they also run the risk of your parents finding out and suing them. You must be at least 18 to get a tattoo with out your parents consent.

Many of the tattoo shops I know of make a parent come in with you (as proof so you don't write a bogus permission). Then they have to show proof they are who they say. I think it's a good idea too. I thought for many years what I wanted tattoo'd on me. If I had done the one I was thinking about when I was that young - I would have soooooo regreted it.
