If they're selling them in a bookstore, then they can do that. Otherwise, they should be giving away Bibles. There are LOTS of Christian groups that give away Bibles for free.

I am a Christian. I understand that stores have to sell items (including Bibles) to make money. I realize it costs money to make Bibles. However, I have always given away Bibles to anyone who needs one. I will always do this.

whats wrong with it?

i have a friend who works in a Bible bookship

i assume u mean they shud give them away free? fair enough eg Gideons international etc do a very good work, but as a Christian a wud rather buy a Bible than take one free, as i feel i am taking advantage of a Bible which cud be used to reach the lost, rather than join about 10 other ones on a shelf in my house.

I don't see a problem with selling Bibles. I personally purchased one with 4 different translations, and am glad there was a store selling it. There are plenty of organizations who give away Bibles.

It costs to print them.

Some people spend years translating them; shouldn't they have been paid for their time and their expensively-obtained education, etc.?

Bibles are given away, FREE, or for only a very few "cents" on many mission fields ... some have found that people treasure and take better care of that which they purchase. Even if the purchase price is only a small portion of the cost of production.

I don't have a problem with it. Translators have to make a living. Some Bibles have value-added features such as gigantic print, study aids, etc. etc. I do know the KJV is public domain, and you can download the text for free.

if it's a calf skin bible worth a hundred and eighty bucks, there's no reason to give it to someone who might not want it anyways. but, i do think that it's a probably wrong to be selling cheepo bibles that should just be given away. and then if those people get saved with the little paperback bible, they can invest in something much nicer if they want to.

If they are making an honest living and not over charging, then I see no problem. Bibles cost money to produce, so they should be able to at least make their hard costs back.

If there is a needy searcher who can not afford a bible then it should be given to them free!

I thought bibles were free?

...and if that's the case, how come I had to BUY the Q'uran?

P.S. If Christians sell the bibles, does God get royalties?
