I would have finished your question with the words...does not exist! As much as the constitution declared freedom of religion, in practice it is so much different. Try practicing anything, other than Christianity! Even the Christians are in disagreement!

If you listen to Yahoo Answers you get a good feel for the "religious tolerance" of Americans. There is supposed to be religous tolerance here, but the secret thoughts are different from tradition and laws.

Okay, I am a Liberal AND a Christian...Go Figure..who knew it was possible! (sarcasm)
Anyway, yes there are levels of tolerance but not a lot. I think it varies by where you live in the country because of the majority population.
We seem to be more accepting of what is not necessarily Christian...it seems like the country is moving away from that.

America is tolerant of everything that is not Christianity. Being a Christian in today's America is difficult. Liberals have taken over, and anything Christian, even ideas, thoughts, and words, are seen as intolerant and evil.

sure, there is. in many cases speaking, the South looks extra non secular, extra open to having a non secular communication (a minimum of to a factor) than the North does. whether, the North seems to be extra keen to argue a factor, then walk away. The South has a tendency to take issues extra to heart, extra heavily (in concerns of religious custom) than the North does.

as others have said here everyone has the free will to practice whatever their religious belief systems are. however, bear in mind there are many who still feel their religious belief system is the only one and if you don't believe the way they do they have a right or duty to try to force their belief system. one has to be strong enough to say " NO, thank you I am very satisfied in my way of belief. "

Yes, in a way. We use words for bullets. In America we just don't literally kill each other, but there is no love lost between religions, as evidenced in this site.

They claim to. As long as you belong to a religion they want to tolerate. Otherwise, they can be very intolorant. I am a Mormon, and can tell you there are a lot of intolorant people in America.

We have been that way-------mostly. There are always bigots here and there.
But, since our president Bush is a ''holier that thou evangelical Christian'', he has been working with these radicals to change our Constitution and laws to his way of thinking, and is unfair to all religions, but his.
