I think you're referring to the banning of foie gras in Chicago? It's ridiculous to think you can keep people from eating something they enjoy (unless it's cannibalism, which is illegal and gross).
The government needs to focus on the real issues: the issue of poverty and homelessness in the United States, health care reform so that all Americans can receive affordable health care (need I go on?).

I think you have to take a really good look at who's getting paid to do such such thing. All of those cases of the government making the choice for all of us are the making of some lobbies up in congress that is making contributions in exchange of law making, it is all about the cash. How much cash do I give you so you can turn and pass a certain legislation so I can turn around and make tons of cash in something else.

Depends upon the context. Generally, I'm opposed to any govt. intrusion on my life. Govt is there to build roads, worry about drainage, and manage firemen and police. But I dont' agree w/ having vending machines in high schools. Kids have their whole lives to eat junk food, and don't need to do it in HS, avoiding a nutritious meal in the cafeteria.
