The third commandment, in its proper and logical sequence, declared:
“You must not take up the name of God in a worthless way.” (Ex 20:7)
This harmonizes with the prominence attached to the Almighty's name throughout the Hebrew Scriptures. Within just these few verses of the Ten Words (Ex 20:2-17), the name occurs eight times. The phrase “not take up” has the thought of “not pronounce”
To do this to God’s name in “a worthless way” would be to lift up that name to a falsehood, or “in vain.”
The Israelites who were privileged to bear Gods name as his witnesses and who became apostate were in effect taking up His name in a worthless way.—Isa 43:10; Eze 36:20, 21.
In the original Hebrew text of the Bible, that name appears almost 7,000 times, and is "Jehovah."
This is the best known English pronunciation of the divine name, although “Yahweh” is favored by most Hebrew scholars.
Some persons use the terms “God” and “Lord,” also “Jesus” and “Christ,” simply to add emphasis to speech, or as a substitute for a curse word. Other words such as “gosh, golly and gee” and the others you list are as you say euphemisms, derived from “God” and “Jesus.”
The use of these terms has steadily increased over the years and such speech is now considered by many to be a form of acceptable swearing. But are they? Matt. 5:34-37.
Nearly 2,000 years ago, the Christian apostle Paul wrote: “Let a rotten saying not proceed out of your mouth, but whatever saying is good for building up as the need may be, that it may impart what is favorable to the hearers.” He also wrote: “Let fornication and uncleanness of every sort or greediness not even be mentioned among you, just as it befits holy people; neither shameful conduct nor foolish talking nor obscene jesting, things which are not becoming, but rather the giving of thanks.”—Ephesians 4:29; 5:3, 4.
How can profanity and obscene jesting be eliminated from the mouth? Paul’s counsel to the Philippians might help us all: “Brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are of serious concern, whatever things are righteous, whatever things are chaste, whatever things are lovable, whatever things are well spoken of, whatever virtue there is and whatever praiseworthy thing there is, continue considering these things.”—Philippians 4:8.

God minds when you even say those 'not so harmful words' because they mean the same as all the other cuss words. Do you realize what damn means? It means send to hell. So if you say 'damn you' then you are telling someone to goto hell. If you are truly a Christian you should not cuss. So to answer your question God is mad when you say any of those words

Punishment is not an act of our everloving Jesus. He even seek forgiveness for the people who crucified him..remember? Will he ever punish you friend :)
If for your realization, taking his name in vain is Wrong, just choose to change your act. Never doubt His Love cause it is ever vast and un-conditional.
Never take my experience as conclusion. Challenge me and seek to experience the Love of our Father Jesus.
Love All and Serve All.
Aum Nama Shivaya.

Taking Gods' name in vain refers to using God or the church to your own advantage, as in going to church to improve your connections for your business, or changing money into tokens to buy favors from God.....

I like this question. Is it the actual sound that comes out and other people hear? Or the thought that instigated the response, from the person who just hit his thumb with the hammer, the offense to Him?
I ended up just trying to stay away from saying anything besides 'ouch'......."bogus"......"whoops"......
