So I talked to him. He says he's sad and hurt about us and because he hurt me and that I have a place in his heart, and that he's not the man for me. Why do I keep feeling like he is? How do I get over this because it feels like I'm never going to get over this.

Im sure it does. Its painful when a relationship ends but you need to accept that fact first in order to move on. He has told you outright that he doesnt want the relationship any longer. Its not like hes keeping you hanging on a string.
Only time can ease this pain, but how you deal with it makes a difference. Go out with friends, keep yourself busy. If you spend all your time at home alone pining and pondering about this guy, it will only make the pain last that much longer. Stop talking to him or seeing him if at all possible. If another guy asks you out, then go. It doesnt have to MEAN anything, its just a way to spend an evening out.

Just believe in yourself and you can do it. I know its not easy, but try to take your mind off him. Carry on with your life as normal. Time is a great healer.

Don't give up.

Never doubt the wisdom of the male human. You merely feel; he KNOWS. If he's sacificing his happiness for your sake, you should not question it. Return his bow, make your farewells, and go.
