1. Vonage is a good phone service and has been very reliable for me.
2. I have read press reports that their customer service sucks. My experience with Vonage customer service has been similar.
3. The Vonage voice quality and reliability depends on the quality of your Internet broadband service. It should be reliable and stable.
4. Calls to 911 does not go to your local EMS but to national center and then redirected. You should read this before you sign up.
5. In case of a power failure Vonage will not work. The cable modem, router, etc will need power. You must have cell phone as back up.
6. It has nice features like sending voice mail as an email attachment, simultaneous ringing.
7. You may want to compare Sunrocket. I have heard mixed reviews about it.

I have Vonage. All the calls you want for $25. I have a toll free line with 100 minutes a mo for $5.
If I miss a call, I get an email message with a link to the site and hear the person's voice.
There are many more ways to use it.
It's great!

I use it, and I'm satisfied. My monthly bill averages about $34 per month, tax and other charges included. You can call anywhere in the U.S., Canada and many European countries with no extra charges for as long as you want. But you need a cable modem, which you should have anyway.

theres the gov fees, and state fees, and 911 fees and such just like any other phone service you could have. The only downside is that if your modem goes out, so does your phone.
