When a hard boiled egg has approx 80 cal then a fried egg has 82 and a scrambled egg has 95 are they (the people who wrote the book) adding in the butter or oil that you fry in or does heat add calories or..?????

The people who wrote the book are including the calories from oil/butter. Heat and the method of cooking does not change the number of calories, only what you put in it when you cook. And yes, this is in the right catagory.

The method of preparing the eggs does affect the calories. The calorie counter should list what the egg was fried in (butter or margarine, for example) or scrambled in. If the calorie counter lists 82 calories for a fried egg, it was probably fried in margarine.

Just remember that fat has 9 calories per gram, carbs and protien have 4 calories per gram. So, if the calories change on an egg, then what ever is added to the egg accounts for the extra calories.

it sounds like some jackasses wrote the book if they didnt say what they were using.... But still if they were using oil or butter it would add a hell of a lot more calories even for a small amount that just 10-15 cals. So i dunno, thats crazy...

they probably are. Most everybody cooks with butter or oil.Mabey you should write to them, it might solve your answer. Good Luck!
