Absolutely. Especially when narrow minded people who are completely brainwashed by their corrupt leaders will do anything for their cause, and can no longer be persuaded by reason. Ever notice how reason is wasted on a religious zealot, no matter what kind of religion it is?

There's no denying it. People get very sensitive on issues of religion, and some religions are inevitably in conflict. I am currently reading Tom Clancy's big thick novel, "The Sum of All Fears." I'm less than a quarter of the way through it and the American president is patting himself on the back for his "service to the world" in pushing through a treaty between Israel and the Arabs. With a book that thick, with a title like that, you know there's plenty of flaws in that treaty.

It makes the point, however, that with three major religions, all monotheistic, all differing in their view of the One God they all claim to worship, all considering Jerusalem to be a major religious center, there will be conflict. We just cannot seem to get our heads around the idea that whatever God is worth worshiping does not want us to fight one another, but to love one another. We say it, but we don't do it.

Religions create many problems. But without religions there may b more problems.

Religion gives people the opportunity 2 put some of the pressure in him on somebody else. Its contributions r small but more widespread than its hazards. Religious saints r more numerous than religious zealots.

Religion has always been the cause of many problems in the world. If you look back in history, there have always been wars and persecution based on peoples' religion. I don't forsee this stopping any time soon. I'm sure we will destroy the planet before that ever happens.

There is no doubt in my mind it does. Look at Catholics, look at Mormons, and Muslims full of self righteousness. It is more a version of brainwashing ~ "This is the way, the only way!" Funny~ AS I don't recall Jesus saying "This is the only religion to know me and my Father" But rather:" I am the the truth the way and the light. No man comes to the Father but by me." That I believe, Love of Jesus is the way to God, not religion.

Not really - the hate, jealousy, darkness is STILL in the human heart.

The religious system is not the issue - the evil heart of Man is the issue.

Yes. But so does race, nationality, social, educational and economic status.

You can't eliminate them. It was tried in U.S.S.R, Cuba and Romania, just to name a few of the more infamous places. It didn't work.
