Because we are the superpower. Whether you like it or not. And for one thing, I dont understand why people like you have to say "your evil empire" "your time is coming soon". I dont run this government, and I dont like who's running our government at the moment ;) . I feel very fortunate to live here, but like most Americans I AM concerned about global warming. I AM concerned about wars, I dont want there to be any wars CANT WE ALL JUST GET ALONG!

There used to be 2 'superpowers', then the Soviet Union collapsed. Now there's one.
Simple, no?
Sadly, the US leaders do not care about the planet, or the poor, they only care about money and power and making themselves and their friends richer. They are leaving a lot of bills for our children and their children to pay.
But none of that means they're not still the only 'superpower' left. Think about it. The world's business is conducted in English and with American dollars. That may change some day, but not right now.

Why are you so bias against the United States? Why is it that you people blame the USA for all of your miseries.? Before you start knocking on us the USA you better start checking and fixing the problems that you have in your country. You might want to consider what 'superpower' means. It's not something a country 'thinks' it is. With American's economy, it's a superpower by definition...that's it. It's like asking, 'why do you think you are human?' Er, because you are...the definition fits you (although in your case, that may remain to be seen).

maybe it's simply because they've proven that they are... or at least they've influenced a lot of people to think that they are... my country was colonized by the americans too... and even though we are now an independent country, i think america still has a few strings attached to us...
